The Problem
Nothing fits properly and you've assumed that's about you.
📏
Always wrong the same way

Consistently too long in the body or too short in the leg points to proportions, not to you.

📱
Copied outfits fall flat

The same clothes sit differently on different proportions, so replicating them rarely works.

❓
Rules without reasons

'Dress for your shape' never explains why a neckline or a waist height changes anything.

🛍️
Buying and returning

Without knowing what to check, the fitting room becomes trial and error every time.

Questions
Everything you need to know.
How do I work out my proportions?
Stand in front of a mirror and put a hand at your natural waist. Compare shoulder‑to‑hand against hand‑to‑floor: noticeably shorter on top means a shorter torso and longer legs, and the reverse if it's the other way round. Roughly equal is balanced, which is what most clothing is cut for.
Does this work whatever I wear?
Yes – the principles are the same regardless of gender or style. Necklines, waist height and hem placement affect a silhouette the same way in a suit as in a dress; only the specific garments change, and the formulas are built around how you actually dress.
Do I have to follow the rules?
No. They explain why something feels off, which means you can break them deliberately rather than by accident. If you love a cut that isn't ideal for your proportions, other choices in the outfit can balance it – that's the point of understanding the mechanism.
Can I change my proportions?
Not the skeletal part of them, and you don't need to. Everything here is about how clothes sit on the frame you have – which is a considerably faster and cheaper route to looking better in what you own.
Why does the same outfit look different on my friend?
Almost always because your proportions differ. A high waistband adds visual leg length for one person and shortens the torso for another, so identical clothes genuinely do read differently. It's the fit to your proportions that's wrong, not the outfit.
