How do the AI dialogues work?
The AI plays someone giving you a compliment, one scene at a time, and waits for your reply. After each, you get short feedback — what worked, and a better version if you deflected. Scenes 1-5 cover everyday praise; scenes 6-10 cover praise in front of others, team credit, backhanded remarks, praise with a possible motive, and a comment that crosses a line.
Won't saying thank you sound arrogant?
Usually the opposite. Brushing praise off can feel to the giver as if their judgement was wrong. A simple thank you lets their kindness stand — you're not agreeing it's all true, just receiving it. Norms do vary by culture, though, and the plan helps you find a warm, modest middle path where that matters.
What if others helped and I get the credit?
Accept your part and share honestly: "thank you — I'm really pleased with how it went, and Sam did a lot of the groundwork." That's generous and accurate. What doesn't help is "it was just luck", which usually isn't true and dismisses your own work.
What about comments that feel inappropriate?
They aren't compliments you need to receive graciously. Dialogue 10 practises a calm boundary, such as "I'd rather you didn't comment on that." At work, repeated or serious remarks can be raised with a manager, HR or the appropriate route.
Will this fix my self-esteem?
It can make receiving praise more comfortable, and saving kind words helps them stick — praise tends to fade from memory faster than criticism. But it won't change how you feel about yourself overnight. If you're dealing with persistent harsh self-criticism or low mood, a doctor or therapist can help alongside the practice.
