The Problem
Recipes assume you already know the bit you don't.
📖
'Sauté until golden' means nothing if you've never seen it

Recipes tell you what to do, not what it should look, sound and smell like — which is the part beginners actually need.

🔥
Almost every beginner problem is one of three things

Heat too high, pan too crowded, or not tasting as you go. Nobody says this, so people conclude they're bad at cooking.

📹
Videos skip ten steps and never repeat anything

You watch, it looks easy, yours doesn't work, and there's no diagnosis — just another video.

🌡️
Nobody teaches the safety bit

Undercooked chicken, the same board for raw meat, water on a burning pan. It isn't the fun part, and it's the part that hurts people.

Questions
Everything you need to know.
I genuinely can't cook anything. Is this really for me?
That's who it's written for. It assumes no prior knowledge and explains what things should look, sound and smell like rather than just what to do — because 'sauté until golden' is the instruction that fails beginners. It also says plainly that first attempts are usually mediocre and that's the process, not a verdict.
What equipment do I need?
Less than you'd think: a sharp knife, a board, one heavy pan and a wooden spoon covers most of the course. The one thing worth buying early is a digital food thermometer, because colour and 'juices running clear' genuinely can't tell you whether chicken is cooked. It won't name brands or quote prices — an AI can't see what's on shelves.
Why is there a safety section?
Because it's the part cooking content skips and the part that actually causes harm. Internal temperatures rather than guessing, a separate board for raw meat, not washing raw chicken, getting leftovers cooled and refrigerated, and never putting water on burning oil. Five questions, and most of the fixes are free.
What if I mess up a recipe?
There's a rescue prompt for mid-cook disasters — what to do in the next thirty seconds, whether it's salvageable, and why it happened. It'll also tell you honestly when starting again is the right call, and it won't help you serve undercooked chicken or mince however inconvenient that is.
How is this different from cooking videos?
It diagnoses. If the same thing keeps going wrong, the weekly review names the underlying cause rather than handing you another recipe — and it tells you to repeat a technique until it works instead of moving on. A video can't notice that you've burnt the garlic four weeks running.
What does 'cooking without a recipe' actually mean?
By Week 4 you open the fridge and build a plate from a framework — something substantial, something green, something starchy, and a sauce to tie it together. The AI coaches rather than instructs: you pick the technique, it confirms or corrects. If it just gave you a recipe, you'd have learned nothing.
