Why didn't grain‑free food help?
Because reactions are usually to a protein rather than a grain. Swapping the grain while keeping the same meat changes nothing about what the immune system is responding to.
Can't a blood test just tell me?
For food, those tests aren't considered reliable and produce plenty of false positives. A properly run diet trial is still how it's established. For environmental triggers, testing has more of a role – ask your vet which applies.
Do I need my vet for this?
Yes. Choosing the right trial diet, ruling out parasites and infection, and interpreting the result are all veterinary decisions. This prepares you for that conversation.
What if someone slips them a treat?
It undermines the whole trial, and you'd have to start again. Everyone in the house has to know, including anyone who walks or minds them.
How soon would I see a change?
