Questions
Everything you need to know.
Are there audio trainings?
No — there's no audio in the product. The ten drills use your phone's timer, starting with two-second pauses alone and building to calm pauses in real conversations. One drill has you record yourself and listen back, which usually shows a pause sounds much shorter than it felt.
Why do pauses feel so awful?
Research suggests even a few seconds of silence can start to feel uncomfortable in conversation, and the speaker usually experiences it as much longer than the listener does. Our minds also fill silence with worst-case guesses. In reality, the other person is most often thinking, comfortable, or hasn't noticed.
What should I do during a pause?
Breathe out slowly, soften your face or nod, and remind yourself it's thinking time. Then wait. Often the other person continues — and shares something they were holding back. If a moment does feel awkward, a simple line like "sorry, I was just thinking about what you said" covers it.
How can pauses become a tool?
Pause before a key point to give it weight, after a question so people can think, after someone shares something difficult so they can continue, and in negotiations after stating your position instead of filling the silence with concessions. Replacing filler words with a short pause usually sounds calmer too.
What if the panic is really strong?
If pauses trigger strong panic or a racing heart, or you avoid conversations because of them, that may be social anxiety — common and treatable. A doctor or therapist can help alongside the drills, which you can take at whatever pace feels manageable.
